Gokou was selected from Uji landrace tea by the Kyoto Prefectural Tea Research Institute. This limited single-cultivar ceremonial matcha is made only from first-flush Gokou tencha grown, harvested, and processed in Uji.
Nothing is blended in. The cultivar remains intact through its distinctive aroma, rich umami, and layered sweetness.

From Uji Landrace Tea
Gokou was selected from Uji landrace tea by the Kyoto Prefectural Tea Research Institute and developed in 1954. It is a mid-to-late cultivar, harvested later than Yabukita, with a distinctive aroma. In Kyoto, it has also been used for competition gyokuro.
This Gokou is made from first-flush tencha grown, harvested, and processed in Uji. A cultivar shaped by Uji's shaded-tea culture remains intact as a single-cultivar matcha.
One Cultivar, Left Intact
No second cultivar is added. Floral aroma comes first, followed by rich umami and layered sweetness.
Water keeps that sequence clear. The reason for choosing a single cultivar remains clear from aroma through the finish.
