The Green of Uji

Samidori was selected from Uji landrace tea and developed in 1954. In Kyoto, it is grown as one of the representative cultivars for high-grade Uji tencha.
Its upright growth is suited to hand picking. The pale-green shoots are glossy. As tencha, the cultivar produces clear color and a defined balance of aroma and flavor.

This Samidori is made only from first-flush tea grown, harvested, and processed in Uji. No second cultivar is added to build weight. Its color, sweetness, and mild bitterness remain intact.
Prepared with water, the sequence is delicate aroma, smooth body, and a clean finish. The cultivar is defined by balance rather than force.

We present Japanese tea and matcha as part of the Drinking Heals collection. In Japan, IPPUKU describes a brief pause—sometimes with tea, sometimes with a cigarette. Drinking Heals reimagines IPPUKU through Japanese tea. Inspired by the familiar warning “ Smoking Kills ” , it proposes another message: “ Drinking Heals .” A moment once associated with tobacco becomes a quiet ritual of water, tea, and time.
