Crafted from roasted green tea leaves grown in the Yamashiro area of Uji, Kyoto—an iconic tea-growing region with a deep heritage—this hojicha powder offers a gentle, toasty aroma and mild flavor that soothes and satisfies.
Naturally low in caffeine thanks to a high-temperature roasting process, it’s ideal for relaxing moments, nighttime sipping, or for those seeking a lighter tea option. Its powdered form makes it easy to enjoy as a warm drink or to use in lattes, baked goods, and desserts.
What makes Yamashiro-grown tea special?
The Uji Yamashiro region offers optimal growing conditions for tea cultivation:
Mountain mist softens sunlight, encouraging the growth of tender, umami-rich leaves
Wide temperature swings between day and night enhance flavor and aroma
Well-drained red soil promotes deep root growth, drawing in rich nutrients
Naturally nourishing
Hojicha also contains tea-derived nutrients like:
Catechins – antioxidant and immune support
Pyrazines – help circulation and relaxation
Vitamin C – for healthy skin and stress relief
Insoluble fiber – supports digestion and gut health
Whether you enjoy it on its own or in creative recipes, our Uji hojicha powder brings calm, comfort, and a taste of Kyoto’s tea culture into your daily routine.

Drinking
Heals
We present Japanese tea and matcha as part of the Drinking Heals Collection. In Japan, there is a traditional practice called IPPUKU —a brief moment to reset the mind and body, often by drinking a cup of matcha or tea, and sometimes by smoking a cigarette. This project reinterprets IPPUKU in a modern context, presenting Japanese tea in cigarette-style packaging as an artistic and mindful alternative. Inspired by the familiar tobacco warning “ Smoking Kills ” , we propose a new message: “ Drinking Heals ,” positioning Japanese tea as a beautiful and healthy ritual.
